Public Education

Public Education is an entitlement our children should enjoy. I ask why the disparity in “per child spending,” and the reward for funding, is a decrease in success of the student. Baltimore City spends over $13 thousand dollars per child to have less than half of their students meet the requirements to graduate. Worcester County has a 90 percent graduation rate and spends just over $10 thousand. We shouldn’t throw money at this under the guise of federal spending “no child left behind”.

What makes the student in Baltimore more expensive then any other jurisdiction? Quite clearly the results show money will not fix the problem.

Bring people from behind the levels of bureaucracy and put them back in the classroom. Truly fix this drain on our budget. Also, private education is a double tax on our states constituents that for whatever reason choose to send their children to those schools. Most do so without a concern to this issue.

I propose that the state pay for the books and associated materials needed to meet the minimal state standard of that educational institution.
